Success at Spring Fair 2017

EPE are delighted to announce that this years NEC Spring Fair was another huge success and it was a pleasure to see so many customers, new and old on the stand chatting to our sales representatives over a fresh coffee prepared on the Delonghi Primadonna elite Bean to cup machine or the Dolce Gusto Eclipse hot drinks machine by Delonghi.

In addition to this, over the 7 days we worked closely with the brands demonstrating a range of products from our portfolio. This included the new product category from Tefal, Floorcare! and the new Kenwood kMix range. The launches had a great reception on the EPE stand with drinks and hors d’oeuvres enjoyed by all. The customers on the stand also saw the unveiling of a new brand partnership with Beko showcasing their new SDA range which is now available to order from EPE.

Through out the show EPE offered competitive prices on many brands and products, with this in mind as the show draws to a close for 2017 EPE can say it has been a massive success and EPE now look forward to seeing what further success this year brings.

Over four weeks Kenwood ran a viral video thread on social media, coupled with some pay per click activity. Amelia Freer, nutritionist and dietitian to the stars also provided posts and a competition to amplify the campaign.

EPE Group outperforms SDA market in 2015

EPE Group, which distributes branded small domestic appliances and floorcare appliances, has announced that sales increased 18.2% in 2015, with notable performances in food preparation and linen care.

The company said it has grown organically, taking market share from its competitors, and at a faster rate than the small domestic appliances market, which has been buoyant for a number of years.

EPE Group investment and marketing director Harry Singh said: “In 2015, Kenwood and Philips performed well in the food preparation category, with Braun and Philips more than holding their own in the linen care category. In floorcare, AEG, Bissell and Kärcher performed well.”

As the exclusive distributor of Philips’ SDA range, EPE has recently launched the brand’s new Anti-Allergen Home Range. The collection of eight products includes an air purifier, dust mite cleaner, bagged and bagless vacuum cleaners and two cordless models plus a number of product accessories.

Appliances in the range are endorsed by The British Allergy Foundation and the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF).

“The anti allergy market is growing as more and more customers become aware of the health benefits that these products offer,” said Singh.

Commenting on the small appliances market as a whole, he added: “Our customers know that there is money to be made in the SDA market. As we grow our business, our customers are growing their businesses too.”

This handheld device looked like a cross between a teapot and a drill. I poured the water from measuring cup into the device, twisted it closed and switched it on. Simple! Attaching the accessory nozzle, squeegee and cloth was effortless, too, but it took a minute for the steamer to be ready, which tested my patience. The squeegee ran smoothly up and down the fabric and instantly ironed out crinkles so the curtains draped elegantly. The device felt heavy – it weighs 1.36kg. I needed a ladder too, as there wasn’t an extension lead. But the results were impressive.

Verdict: Very easy to use with instant results.

A brief history of the vacuum cleaner

The history of vacuum cleaners in the UK dates back to the early 1900s. Hubert Cecil Booth started the first vacuum cleaner company in the UK, known as the British Vacuum Cleaner Company. It wasn’t long however before William Henry Hoover, who had already experienced success with his vacuum cleaners in America, made headway in the vacuum cleaners market in the UK and overtook Booth.

Hoover’s vacuum cleaners in the UK became such a success that ‘to hoover’ quickly became synonymous with vacuuming. Some of the earliest domestic vacuum cleaners in the UK incorporated simple reusable fabric bag designs whereby the vacuum cleaner simply collected dust in the bag. Once the bag was full, you could empty and reattach it to the vacuum cleaner. Unlike modern day vacuum cleaners in the UK, these vacuum cleaners didn’t have advanced filtration, motorised brush bars or attachments to make vacuuming more effective.
